The project aims at raising awareness of the danger of losing civic rights through the rise of radicalism as it happened in the history previously in Europe, in order to guarantee the fundamental rights and freedoms for present-day and future generations of European citizens, to learn lessons from the past & foster debate among citizens on how to develop them and enlarge them, but not to diminish them in any case.

These are the specific objectives of this CERV-Remembrance project”:

  1. To raise awareness and discuss the rights & freedoms of EU citizens with citizens from the 3 countries (Estonia, Romania & Spain) & beyond.

Results and outcomes created to raise awareness on the dangers of radicalism:

-An online observatory of radicalism that negatively influences our rights & freedoms.

-A set of testimonies of people from cultural minorities, women, LGBT+.

-A set of live videos, publications, e-guides to share activities results, best practices & how to defend rights & freedoms.

  1. Attract the citizens’ attention to the danger of losing rights through a participatory, artistic & emotional methodology.

Results and outcomes created are the following: Videos, publications, testimonies, interviews, painting exhibition, e-guide to share results of activities to attract attention of a wider audience on the dangers of radicalism, & for educators providing our methods & strategies digitally & for free.

  1. Make a comparative analysis of the rise of radical movements in the past & present that happened during times of crisis.

Results and outcomes created are the following: IG Live Videos, surveys for citizens, expert interviews, testimonies of elder people, cultural minorities, etc.; an informative guide about how radicalism works in the present & in the past, lessons from the past; how to identify mechanisms of manipulation; the role of women in transition & democracy, publications, Remembrance Day celebrations in the 3 countries.

  1. Find out what the citizens, especially young people, want in the EU regarding rights & freedoms.

Results and outcomes created are the following: IG Live videos, surveys, photo contest & photo exhibitions digital & physical in every country with proposals for the future of Europe, testimonies, publications on the topic, paintings about EU benefits to guarantee rights & exhibitions.

RADICALISM OBSERVATORY:

This is an observatory on radicalism in Europe giving visibility to the attacks on civil rights.

It will be used as a measure of long term effect of the project results of the project with number reference 101051276 from the Call CERV-2021-CITIZENS REMEMBRANCE.

GOALS OF THE OBSERVATORY

Observatory on radicalism in Europe giving visibility to the attacks on civil rights.

It will be used as a measure of long term effect of the project results.

 Provide information about rights and freedoms guaranteed by the EU fundamental rights and freedoms charter, easy to understand for different generations, and accessible for people from different backgrounds.

  1. Provide clear definitions of the concepts related to rights & radicalism.
  2. Provide information about the current situation of radicalism, to show how these movements affect rights and freedoms in the 3 countries.
  3. Identify current specific examples of radicalism affecting rights and freedoms in the 3 countries and in the EU, specifically in the European parliament, being the representative institution of all citizens in the European Union.
  4. Provide a set of websites that monitor radicalism in the 3 countries and in Europe.
  5. Promote the value of language diversity & multilingualism.
